Age 77, passed away very peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family at his son Jim’s home on Wednesday, March 22, 2006,
David was born July 30, 1928, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to Alois and Angeline (Kalka) Kirsling. He married Margaret R. Gavlek at Kessler Air Force Base, Mississippi, on October 16, 1950. She preceded him in death on January 23, 2003.
David was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and a member of the American Legion Post 38, Appleton, and the Disabled American Veterans.
David is survived by his sons, Christopher (Mary) Kirsling, Menasha, and his stepchildren, Derek and Brooke and their grandchildren, Brittany and Caleb, Ashton and Aidan; Mark (Janet) Kirsling, Neenah, and their children, Hope Marie and Conner Kirsling; and James (Jody) Kirsling, Grand Chute, and her son, Mike (Char) Nelson, and stepgrandchildren, Emily and Elliott; a granddaughter, Jennie (Chris) Woreck; His brothers, Jerome (Anne) Kirsling, Menomonie, Wis., and their children; Carl (Monna) Kirsling, Waukegan, Ill. and their children; and a sister, Mary Ann Kirsling, Pasco, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Mary Kirsling, Albuquerque, N.M. David is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Kirsling, and his sons, Joseph, Matthew, and Stephen.
The funeral mass for David will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2006, at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 312 South State Street, Appleton, with Father Michael O’Rourke as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of services directly at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in David’s name.
