Daryl W. Collar, 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 4, 2025, at home in Menasha with his family by his side, after a long battle with kidney disease. He was born on July 16, 1953, in New London, WI, the son of Willard and Luella (Hidde) Collar. Daryl was a loving husband, father, son, and brother.
Daryl married Darla Learman on April 27, 1973, and resided in Hortonville where they raised their 3 children. Daryl served in the Navy and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 55. He worked at Miller Electric for 25 years and operated his own business D&D Stump Grinding. He liked going to his grandchildren’s activities. Daryl loved his days racing stock cars and was known by many as “Dusty”. He enjoyed driving his yellow '57 Chevy and taking it to car shows.
Daryl is survived by his wife of 51 years: Darla Collar; children: Jesse (Jessica) Collar, Chris (Melissa) Collar, and Nikki (Jesse) Woolf. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Jacob, Beau, Grace, and Ethan, siblings: Sharon (Orville) Mauritz and Jayne (Michael) Braun. Daryl had 13 brother and sister-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Daryl was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Luella Collar; sisters: Cindy (Larry Peterson) and Darlene Collar, and brother Dennis; Father and Mother in-law Vernon and Eloise Learman and several in-laws.
Daryl’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of St. Pauls in Kaukauna, ThedaCare at Home Hospice, and Fresenius Medical Care for their exceptional compassion and care.
Daryl did not want a funeral service or celebration of life, but he asked that everyone have a cocktail to remember him.
