Darwood “Lee” Babcock, 82, of Appleton, unexpectedly passed away April 9, 2023.
Lee was born in Mauston on May 31, 1940, to Clifford and Josephine (Pudelko) Babcock.
Lee served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after 4 years. He spent 25 years as a custodian at Fox Valley Technical College, retiring in 2014. Lee and the love of his life Nancy (Allen) Mercure were married in 2002 at the Monarch Gardens in Appleton.
Lee loved playing country music, specifically the guitar and steel guitar, and had his own band. Lee enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially at his son’s cottage. He also enjoyed PC golfing and playing with remote-controlled cars with his wife Nancy.
Lee is survived by his wife Nancy; 2 sons: Dale Babcock and Terry Babcock; 2 step children: Lynn (Ron) Duncan, Scott Mercure; grandchildren: Cody, Chelsea, Amanda, Bryce, Amanda; 4 great grandchildren: Kayden, Brantley, Skylar, Presley; sister Lori Henry; step father Vern Klicko; sisters in law Beverly Babcock and Kathy Nichols; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lee is preceded by his mother and father, siblings Tyrone, Tony, Randy, and Jolene Babcock.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 2:30pm, at Riverside Cemetery, 714 N. Owaissa St., Appleton, with full military honors.
A special thank you to the police officers, fire fighters, EMTs, and paramedics who assisted with Lee.
