Darol A. Dogs of Greenville passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday evening, April 25, 2006. Darol was born on December 6, 1931 in the Town of Summit, Juneau County, Wisconsin to Carl Dogs Sr. and Caroline Brandt. He graduated from Mauston High School and earned a teaching degree from Juneau County Normal in New Lisbon, WI.
He was a Korean War Veteran and served in the Army from July 1953 to May of 1955 spending part of his time in Germany. Darol was united in marriage to Doris Wehrenberg on June 1, 1957 at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church in West Salem. This union was blessed with one son, Dennis. Dennis was a Major in the United States Marines and died on active duty on May 10, 1997.
Darol was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed gardening, golf and all outdoor activities. He loved driving which he did daily in his occupation of sales. He retired in 1995.
Darol was a member of the American Legion Post 38 in Appleton where he served on the color guard many years. He was a long time member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Appleton where he served as an Elder, Usher and on various other committees.
Darol is survived by his wife Doris of 49 years, his daughter-in-law Janice (Steve) Schmidt and their son, Jalen of Trophy Club, TX; sister in law and brother in law Carol and Dale Peterson of West Salem, sisters in law Violet Wehreberg of La Crosse, WI., Bonnita Wehrenberg of Sun City, AZ, Ruth Wehrenberg of West Salem, WI; brother in law Harold Dahl of West Salem, WI; brothers in law and sisters in law Marlin and Mary Wehrenberg of of West Salem, WI, Gerald and Colleen Wehrenberg of Winona, MN; one brother Carl Jr. (Shirley) of Mauston, WI. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Dennis, his parents, sister in law Mary Dahl; brothers in law Harvey, Rudolph, Frederick and Delvin Wehrenberg.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2006 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 530 W. Parkway Blvd., Appleton, at 1:30 P.M. with Pastor Mark Henke officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 38 following the funeral service at church. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the church from 12:00 until the time of services. Private burial services for the family will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial fund has been established.
