Daniel ''Grooter'' DeGroot

June 15, 1946 — September 20, 2001

Age 55, died Thursday, September 20, 2001 at the Clement Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, following a short battle with cancer. Grooter was born in Appleton on June 15, 1946, son of the late Victor and Rita (Coonen) DeGroot. He served his country during the Viet Nam war was a member of the United States Army. Dan loved his motorcycles and his German Shepherds, and currently operated a power tool repair business, servicing many of the local building contractors.

He is survived by Lynn Kiefer of Kaukauna; a brother: Vic (Karen) DeGroot of Kaukauna; a sister: Bette (Bob) Price of Appleton; an aunt: Mary Schmidt of Appleton; numerous nieces and nephews: Mike Price, Mark (Shelly) Price, Matt Price, Patrick (Michelle) DeGroot, Pamela (Kevin) Van Stippen, Tim DeGroot, Kris DeGroot and her special friend Tim, and Jeff DeGroot. Dan is further survived by ten grandnieces and nephews, as well as by many friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday after 1:00 PM at the Fargo Funeral Home. Visitation will conclude with the members of the Little Chute Jacob Coppus Post #258 paying their respects and offering a military memorial service at 4:00 PM. A private family service will be conducted on Monday.
