Daniel D. Collin

November 26, 2022 the day his beloved wife passed away, Dans heart went with her. Since that day, in his own way, Dan had continued to grieve his partner in life; his soulmate! On January 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, Dan took his last breath and joined his bride in heaven.

Dan was born in Dykesville Wisconsin on February 2nd, 1953, to John and Libbie (Boulanger) Collin. A story that was shared by family, is that Dan was born at the family home with Dr. Kerscher going back and forth between their home and the neighbor's home across the street, who was also in labor. Dan grew up in Dykesville and graduated from Luxemburg-Casco High School, where he met and later married his sweetheart, Jan. Dan and Jan married on August 28, 1971, and had celebrated 51 fantastic years together.

Dan was an avid fisherman and deer hunter throughout his life. He and Jan spent many hours at their boat "Blackbeard's Lady" on Lake Michigan. They not only fished in or near Kewaunee harbor, but also traveled to the hot spots in Door County with their boating friends. I think it bears repeating the amounts of fun they had on "F" dock with all their "F" dock family every summer. Dan's passion for fishing and hunting was also passed down to his sons and grand-kids, who not only enjoy the time on the water with many fishing excursions and tournaments, but also enjoy spending time at their family cabin in Door County. The cabin was a dream of Dan, Jan, Darren, and Jes as a place for their families to spend time together enjoying the outdoors. Since the building of the cabin, there have been and will continue to be many wonderful memories made in the woods around the campfire in honor of Dan and Jan.

Dan also loved his Green Bay Packers. There were occasions where Dan and Jan would travel to the out of state games to watch the Packers play. Otherwise, he always made sure that he was in a place where he could watch the games on TV. One thing that was very well known by anyone watching the games on TV with Dan is that you do not walk in front of the TV during a play our you would hear the infamous "DOWN IN FRONT!"

Dan's career in HVAC and refrigeration started when he worked with his dad, John, in the family business. After that, Dan had started his own business but later was hired on at Trio, Inc in Neenah in 1979. In 1995, Dan, along with his friend and work partner, John, purchased Trio where the two ran the business together for many years until John's retirement and Dan assuming the business. Due to health concerns of Jan, Dan had stepped away from Trio in 2020 where his son, Scott ran the business until it was sold in late 2024.

Dan is survived by his two sons, Scott (Christy) Collin and Darren (Jes) Collin. His four grandchildren are Matthew (Kaitlin) Collin, Austen Collin, Jase Collin, and Micaela Collin, along with a great-granddaughter, Gabriella Collin, Dan is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-laws: Gene (Madella) Collin and Joe (Rosie) Collin; sister Mae VanderMeuse brother-in-law Roland Ducat, and many more nieces and nephews in the Collin family. Dan is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Sandi (Leroy) Nelson and Bonnie (Kevin) Laundrie, along with nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Jan Collin, his parents John and Libbie Collin, and sister Harriet Ducat.

The family of Dan would like to express our deepest of gratitude to the healthcare workers that had taken care of Dan these last few months. Dr. Zhau at ThedaCare Neenah for giving us confirmation that the hard decisions were the correct decisions. Hospice nurse Kathryn for keeping us updated at all times in the earlier days leading up to Dan's passing. The 5 South nurses at ThedaCare in Neenah - Cherie, you were fantastic and we can't thank you enough for keeping Dan's comfort a priority; RN's Sophie and Ann — your passion and compassion were tremendous. Your willingness to comfort us and pray with us during those last breaths will never be forgotten; PCT's Breanne, Autumn and Claire you handled Dan with such dignity and respect while performing his daily cares. You all stepped into your career paths for the right reasons, and it shows.

A memorial service for Dan will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, located at 537 N. Superior Street in Appleton.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, beginning at 9:00 AM.
