Dale Riehl, age 51, died unexpectedly at Theda Care Medical Center, after a seizure on December 11, 2021. Dale was born in Appleton on April 14, 1970, son of Leo and Judy (Schabo) Riehl. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran in Appleton and graduated from St. Paul Lutheran School and Fox Valley Lutheran High School with the class of 1988.
Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, coaching basketball – all the way to the Wisconsin Lutheran State Tournament. He umpired baseball and played pool in several area leagues. He worked for his friends Lisa and Chad with their summer carnival for a few years, delivered newspapers when he was younger, and later worked alongside his dad at S.C. Shannon and Checker Warehousing. Dale loved sports of all kinds as well as spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother: Judy Riehl of Little Chute; two sisters: Brenda (Riehl) Wolf of Appleton and Tina (Riehl) Kahler of DePere; a niece: Chelsey Wolf of Appleton; nephews: Chris Wolf of Appleton, Patrick (Bethany) Wolf of Neenah, Jon Kahler of Wrightstown, Ryan Kahler of Black Creek and Aaron Kahler of Black Creek. His great nieces and nephews include Autumn, Austin, Ethan, and Ezekiel Wolf and Aubrey Kahler. Dale also has many aunts and uncles, and a special aunt and Godmother, Jean Fuhrman.
Dale was preceded in death by his father Leo Riehl, a nephew Andrew Wolf, and grandparents Bernice and Harry Schabo and Nolan and Rose Riehl, and his Godfather Merlin Kolberg.
A memorial service for Dale is set for 6:00 PM on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Faith Lutheran Church in Appleton, with Rev. Adam Bridgman officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Tuesday, January 4, begininning at 5:00 PM.
The family would like to thank Gold Cross and others who arrived at the house so quickly and tried to save Dale, as well as the staff in the Emergency Room at ThedaCare in Appleton for your efforts. We will be forever grateful.
