Curtis D. Gerow, age 71, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Curtis was born on July 15, 1937 in Kaukauna, son of the late Howard and Mildred (Wilcox) Gerow. Curtis attended Kaukauna public schools and proudly served in the U. S. Marine Corps as a Military Police Officer. Chubby married Sandra Wurdinger on July 7, 1958 in Kaukauna, and worked for many years at Thilmany Pulp and Paper as well as at the Kaukauna School System. He was a born entrepreneur, and along with his wife Sandy owned Gerow's Garden Center and Curt's Crafts. Chubby was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and gardening, and was a member of the Wisconsin Trappers Association.
He is survived by his wife: Sandy Gerow of Kaukauna; two sons: David Gerow of Milwaukee and Bruce (Danelle) Gerow of Hayward; a daughter: Diane Gerow of Neenah; seven grandchildren: Allan (Misty) Keller, Andy Keller and his friend Priscilla, Sarah (Steve) Nofsinger, Melissa (Jason) Gunderson, Jonathon Gerow and his friend Melanie, Daniel Gerow, and Dana Gerow and her friend Phil; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers: Francis (Joan) Gerow and Keith (Cathy) Gerow; a sister: Dallas (Maurice) Lamers; a sister-in-law: Joyce Gerow and her special friend Cliff Hinkens; and a brother-in-law: Robert (Judy) Wurdinger, Jr. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews, and by special friends Kathy Barker and the entire Brittnacher family. Chubby was preceded in death by his parents, by Sandy's parents Robert and Rita Wurdinger, a brother Raymond “Tuggy” Gerow, infant sisters Phyllis and Mary Lou, a sister Mavis (Bill) Lenhart, and nephews Billy Lenhart and Larry Lenhart.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Fargo Funeral Home in Kaukauna with Rev. Tim Albrecht officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until the time of the service.
