Colleen Eloise Crowell, age 88 of Appleton, WI, passed away surrounded by her family in the early hours of January 14, 2023. She was born to Kelly and Almeda (Fields) Crowell on May 19, 1934 in Tomahawk, WI. Colleen graduated from Tripoli High School with the class of ’52 and went on to work for Treasure Island in Appleton, later working as an in-home care worker for VNA for over 20 years. She married George Kallin Jr. in June of 1953, later separating, but they shared immense pride in raising their 5 children together.
After Colleen’s retirement, she spent as much time as she could traveling, fishing with her grandchildren, scrapbooking, crocheting, quilting, and plastic canvasing. Colleen loved Christmas and enjoyed creating homemade Christmas ornaments for her children and grandchildren every year. More than anything, Colleen was a family woman, spending as much time as she could with her children and grandchildren.
Colleen is preceded in death by her parents, Kelly and Almeda; her siblings, Arlene, Patrick, Dugan (Mary), Leland (Anna), Pauline (Carl), and Leah; her former husband, George; her siblings-in-law, Jim, Tom, and Marie; and her niece, Cherelynn.
Colleen is survived by her children, Kenneth (S.O. Mary), Bruce, Susan (Mark), Debra, and Christine; her grandchildren, Kenneth Jr (Luci), Ashley, Lindsey, Alex, Heather (Adam), Sarah (Jay), Edward (Jessica), Ryan (Ashley), Wayne (Chelsea), Matt (Brittnee), Casey (Katelyn), and Devon; her 18 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Mina, Kathy, Leo (Cindy), Mike, Frank, and Art (Audrey); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends.
A funeral visitation will be held for Colleen on Thursday, January 19 from 9-11 AM at First United Methodist Church, 108 W. Doty Avenue, Neenah, WI with a funeral service to follow at 11 AM, which will be livestreamed below on this page at the time of the service. Colleen will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Cemetery in Spirit, WI. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Colleen's memory.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Helen’s House, as well as to Compassus Hospice and its whole staff, who all showed great compassion and care for Colleen throughout the years.
