Age 85, died peacefully on January 2, 2002 at Franciscan Care Center surrounded by his family.
Clifford was born on February 23, 1916 in Ellington, WI the son of the late Ferd and Frieda Meyer (Krause). He served his country with honors during World War II in the Army Air Corps. Clifford was a long time member of First English Lutheran Church where he taught Monday night bible class for 25 years. He was an accountant for First National Bank for many years and later was employed by Lawrence University where he retired in 1981 after 20 years of service.
Clifford is survived by his wife of 61 years, Helen; three children, Ronald (Diane Evans) Meyer, Boulder, CO; Nancy (Robert) Wittman, Green Bay, WI; Claire (Gary) Gallant, Menasha, WI; a special daughter, Tamara England, Madison, WI; eight grandchildren, Joel Meyer-England, Madison, WI; Anna Meyer-Evans, Boulder, CO; Scott (Amy) Wittman, Green Bay, WI; Keith Wittman and special friend Kimberly Hunter, Green Bay, WI; Brent Gallant, Moody Air Force base, GA; Nikkohl Gallant, Stevens Point, WI; Drew Gallant, Menasha, WI; Kirk Gallant, Menasha, WI; one “adopted grand child”, Karsten Steinberg, Germany; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Zachary Wittman, Green Bay, WI; one sister, Jeanette (Gerald) Schommer, Florida; one brother-in-law, Perry Thiesen, Neenah, WI; six special nieces, Sunday (Don) Kislewski, Menasha, WI; Charrie (Dan) Larsen, Neenah, WI; Bev Kirchner, Appleton, WI; Ann Kirchner, Shiocton, WI; Dorothy (John) Meyers, Neenah, WI; Paulette (Frank) Weaver, Arizona; a special friend, Jeanne Rhea, New Franken, WI; also survived by other special relatives.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Arden (Ella) Meyer, Appleton, WI; and one sister, Cordell (Harley) Strobl, Nevada.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2002 at First English Lutheran Church (326 East North Street) at 3:00 p.m. with the Pastors of First English Lutheran Church officiating. Friends will be received directly at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service (3:00 p.m.). Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
A memorial fund is being established in Clifford’s name.
