Stoffel, Clement N. “Fuzz”
Appleton
Age 95, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Fuzz was born on August 30, 1911, to the late John and Nellie Stoffel. He was a World War II Army veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for Appleton Papers for 41 years, retiring in 1976. Fuzz was an avid Packer and New York Yankee fan. In his younger days he played semi-pro baseball for Appleton Papers.
Fuzz was a kind and caring man. He loved the simple things in life. Fuzz had a stubborn streak that became endearing to those around him and he had a great sense of humor. Fuzz had a special love for his numerous pets throughout his life and enjoyed spoiling every one of them. He loved to cook and bake and was known especially for his wonderful pies. Fuzz enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing cards with whoever would deal a hand, especially his brothers and sisters. His life was centered around his strong faith and devotion to God and he was a long time parishioner of St. Therese Catholic Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna, of Larsen; sisters, Dolores (George) Vander Heiden, and Therese (Carl) Schroeder, all of Appleton, Sister Therese Ann and Sister Benigna, both of Manitowoc; and Charlie, his cat. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews and special friend, Melissa Schroeder.
Fuzz was preceded in death by his wife, Philomena (Van Zummeran) Stoffel, infant daughter, Mary, his parents, John and Nellie Stoffel, brothers, John (Ethel) Stoffel, Clair (Marie) Stoffel, Fred (Lorraine) Stoffel, and Herbert (Fran) Stoffel, and one sister, Sister Joanela.
The funeral mass for Clement will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 213 East Wisconsin Avenue. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until the time of mass directly at the church.
We would like to express a special thanks for the kindness and caring from the doctors, nurses, and clergy from St. Elizabeth Hospital when taking care of Fuzz. Dad, I’ll miss you, please give my love to Mom.
