Clayton Lindland, age 91 of Appleton, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, August 2, 2015, in his home at the Appleton Retirement Community. He was born on February 23, 1924, in Neenah, to the late Arndt Richard and Amanda (Nottelson) Lindland. Clayton graduated from Neenah High School in 1942, and served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943 until 1944. He married Mildred Gullickson on July 25, 1944, in Menasha. Clayton retired in 1986 from George Banta Company (RR Donnelley), but continued to work well into his 80's. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Appleton.
Clayton was a kind, gentle, and witty man who loved his family, worked hard, and enjoyed life. He was very active, and loved to take walks, golf, bowl, and ride his bike. Clayton enjoyed watching the Brewers, Badgers, and Green Bay Packers. He was an avid reader, and also enjoyed crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Clayton is survived by his four children: Gary (Nancy) Lindland, Cathy (Tom) Roessler, Susie (John) Fourness, and Sheri (Pat) Resch; grandchildren: Steven (Erinn) Lindland; Amy (Tom) Ziolkowski and Brian (Carey) Roessler; Joseph (Margaret) Fourness, Michael (Kathy) Fourness, and Matthew (Becky) Fourness; Lisa (Joe) Braun and Scott (Tovah) Resch; great grandchildren: Ethan Lindland; Ashley, Tommy, and Sarah Ziolkowski; Alexis Roessler; Jack, Liam, and Charlie Fourness; Zachary and Jacob Resch; Liliana, Marco, and Mariaelena Fourness; and baby Lindland and baby Fourness arriving soon.
Clayton is further survived by his special niece Judy (Ed) Rydell and dear friend Beth Lindland and her family. He was preceded in death by his wife Millie and his sister Gladys (Noel) Rimpler.
The funeral service for Clayton will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 1592 Oneida Street in Menasha. Rev. Dee Sim will be officiating. Interment will take place at Resthaven Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the time of service.
