Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, age 82, passed away March 23 to be with his Lord and Savior. He died at his home with his family at his side after a brief illness.

He was born May 6, 1920 to the late Edward and Mary (Wilhelm) Gosz and has been an Appleton resident for 56 years. He married Helen Van Der Louis in Reedsville,WI on May 11, 1946 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Clarence was a mason and bricklayer for Miron Construction Co. the majority of his years, retiring in 1982. He was a charter member of St. Thomas More; a four year Veteran of World War II, serving in Germany and France; and a life member of the VFW serving as Commander from 1990-1991. He spent his free-time helping others.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, of 56 years; his sons, Dick (Mona) Gosz; Jerry (Annabelle) Gosz; Mike (Linda) Gosz; Jeff (Joan) Gosz; daughters, Barbara (Randy) Ulrich; Carol (Brad) Brittain; Mary Kay Mosher (special friend, Bruce); 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen (Bob) DeValk; Cindy (Earl) Nienhaus; Martha (Ken) Johnson; Clara Long; brother, Robert (Marge) Gosz. He was preceded in death by a son, James Paul; brothers, Daniel, Herbert, Edward, Eugene; and a sister, Mildred.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, Appleton, with Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. The interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton with Military Honors by VFW Post #2778. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 25 from 4 until 7 p.m., and again at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff at Theda Care, Hospice, and Father Falk for their exceptional care; and to Clarence’s many friends who visited and lifted his spirits by their visits.
