Clara Yvonne Drews, nee VonAhn, age 85, of Appleton, passed away February 16, 2004, at Franciscan Care Center, Appleton. Clara was born February 26, 1918, in Miranda, South Dakota, to the late Henry C. and Anna (Stammer) VonAhn. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Clara married Harvey R. Drews on May 23, 1942 at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville, WI; he preceded her in death on January 16, 1994. Clara was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church, Poy Sippi, WI for 31 years. She served as an officer in the Ladies Aid and was a choir member. Clara and her husband moved to Berlin after his retirement, and she joined St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin, WI. She moved to Appleton in October 1996 and joined St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Joel Clausen, West Bend; Donna and Ray Schmidt, Fremont; Darlene and John Laird, Darboy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Drews, Appleton; Bruce and Peggy Drews, Appleton; Curtis and Lisa Drews, Amherst; her grandchildren, Todd (Cheryl) Clausen, Delafield; Troy Clausen, Madison; Aaron Clausen, West Bend; Linda Schmidt, Oshkosh; Karen (Lonnie) Hansen, Wrightstown; Jessica (Michael) Vela; Aundrea Drews; Kevin (Debbie) Laird, Kimberly; Carmen Laird, Menasha; Tammy (Dan) Mendosa, Wild Rose; Heidi (Aaron) Theil, Darboy; Sarah (John) McQuillan, Appleton; and Katie and Matthew Drews, Amherst; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Prellwitz, Clintonville; Florence White, Portland, OR; 6 sisters-in-law; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Andrew Drews. Funeral services for Clara will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, February 19, 2004, at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 North Morrison Street, with Reverend Ralph C. Waack officiating. Burial will be in Brushville Cemetery, Poy Sippi. Friends may call at the church on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Franciscan Care Center for their loving care and support.
