Formerly of Appleton, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2003 at Birch Hill Health Care Center in Shawano. Joe was born in Hortonville on May 20, 1921, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Yogerst) Borsche. On May 21, 1949, he married the former Gladys Pohlman; she preceded him in death in October of 2000. Joe proudly served his country during World War II as a corpsman in the United States Army, and saw action at the Battle of the Bulge. After his discharge from the service, he began work as a meat cutter at the A & P Supermarket in downtown Appleton. Later he also worked at Sentry and K-Mart. He was a former member of the Johnston Blessman Post #38 of the American Legion, and will be remembered by many as an avid bowler and fisherman.
He is survived by three sons: Wayne (Nancy) Borsche, Sr. of Shawano; Lee (Jane) Borsche of Readfield; Jim (Sharon) Borsche of Green Bay; two grandsons: Wayne (Wanda) Borsche, Jr. and Michael Borsche; and a great-grandson: Cody Borsche. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gladys, a granddaughter Robin Borsche, as well as by ten siblings, and numerous in-laws.
Funeral Services for Joe will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 11, 2003 at OUR SAVIOUR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3009 N. Meade Street with Rev. Dennis E. Ellisen officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, where members of American Legion Post #38 will present military honors. Friends may call Saturday, directly at the church from 9 AM until the hour of the services.
