Chip Newberg, of Appleton, age 59 years, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 26, 2007 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born October 7, 1947 in Milwaukee, the son of Edwin and Marsha (Miller) Newberg, Sr.. On July 25, 1997 he married the former Monica Aukland at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and truly enjoyed the loving and happy years they had together. Chip received his bachelor and masters degrees from UW-Oshkosh. He was formerly a police officer in the city of Oshkosh before his 25 years at Fox Valley Technical College as a counselor, retiring in January 2005. He was a very active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Chip was a caring and helping person, enjoyed time with family and friends and loved to laugh. Chip volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his loving wife: Monica Newberg, Appleton; daughter: Sarah (Tony) Chatfield, Waukesha; grandchildren: Trevor and Ella Chatfield; father: Edwin (Jean) Newberg, Sr., Overland Park, Kansas; step-daughters: Lori, Kari and Lindsey Jacob; brothers: Tim Newberg, Boulder, Colorado and Andy Newberg, Denver, Colorado; step-sisters: Debbie (Topper) Harned, Becky (Francis) Madl and Gina (Allen) Boyce. Chip is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Marsha Newberg.

The memorial service for Chip will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 30, 2007 at OUR SAVIOUR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3009 N. Meade St., Appleton with Revs. Dennis E. Ellisen and Todd Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
