Charlotte Elizabeth Koerner

Charlotte “Char” Elizabeth Koerner (Dorn), age 95 of Appleton, WI joined her heavenly kingdom on October 20, 2023 surrounded by family.  She was born to the late Daniel and Charlotte (Ulman) Dorn on November 21, 1927 in Greenville, WI.  Charlotte married the love of her life, Jack Koerner in May of 1953 at St. Joseph Church in Appleton and together, they raised 2 children. 

Family was first and foremost in Charlotte’s life and she dedicated her life to her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.  Charlotte was a strong woman and an inspiration to her family.  She was a very devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Pius X in Appleton.  Charlotte and Jack enjoyed bowling, attending Packer games, or just generally getting together with their friends.  You could also often find Charlotte playing bridge with her bridge group or getting together with her neighborhood coffee friends.  She loved Jack with all her heart and in 2003, the same year of his passing, they renewed their vows for their 50^th wedding anniversary.  More than anything, though, she loved the family she raised and was so proud of each and every one of them. 

Charlotte is survived by her children, Michael Koerner and Michelle (Robert) Maas; her grandchildren, Stephanie (S.O. Drake) and Jeremy (Liz) Maas; her great-grandchildren, Finn and Juno; her sister, Bea Otto; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends. 

Charlotte is preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her brothers, Edwin (Loretta), Eugene (Dorothy), Donald (LaVerne), Daniel (Joyce), Lawrence (Dolores), and Jerome (Marilyn); her sisters, Estermae (John), Florence (Harold), Eunice (Rich), Rosella, and Pat (Eric); her brothers-in-law, Eugene and Robert (Verla); and her special friend, Ed. 

A funeral visitation will be held for Charlotte from 9:30-11:30 AM on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W. Marquette St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a funeral mass to follow at 11:30 AM.  Charlotte will be laid to rest with her husband at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton following the funeral service. 

Charlotte’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the friends and comforting staff at the Appleton Retirement Community and the nurses, doctors, and other staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital for all their care and compassion shown to Charlotte in her times of need.
