Age 79, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2001 at St. Paul Home. Charles was born in Illinois on November 16, 1921, son of the late Arron and Althea (Dillon) Stewart. During World War II he served his country as a member of the United States Army, and was proud to be a Life Member of the VFW Post #1592 of Charleston, Illinois. After his discharge from the armed forces in June of 1945, he married the former Ann Shoda on September 22, 1945. At the time of his death, Charles and Ann were married exactly fifty-six years. He worked for many years as a lineman for and Illinois electric utility.
Charles is survived by his wife: Ann Stewart of Kaukauna; a daughter: Joyce (Cal) Martin of Kaukauna; two granddaughters: Camille (Rafael) Navarro of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Annette Nick) Kern of Appleton; four nephews: David Sertich of Chicago; John (Becky) Sertich of Glen Carbon, Illinois; Michael Sertich of St. Louis, Missouri; Bob Bristol of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania; a sister-in-law: Lillian Bristol of St. Louis, Missouri; and by his special friends Tom and Ruth Rigdon of Pana, Illinois. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Michael Martin in 1972 and Suzette Martin in 1984; brothers Noble Stewart and Russell Stewart; and by four infant sisters.
A prayer service in Charles’ memory will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday (TODAY) at the funeral home. Friends may call from 5:00 PM until the hour of the service. The members of Electric City Post #3319 of the VFW will present military memorial rites following the prayer service. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Kaukauna.
