CHARLES E. “Chuck” SAMPLE

Age 81, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Theda Clark Medical Center. Charles was born on January 5, 1920, in Green Bay to the late Charles H. and Jeanette (Meidam) Sample. He married Dorothy A. Lindauer on June 27, 1941, in Waupaca; she survives. Chuck played fullback for the Green Bay Packers in 1942 and 1945. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII in France and Germany and was a long time employee of the City of Appleton. He enjoyed handball, bicycling, and was an avid fisher and hunter.
Survivors include Dorothy, his wife of 59 years; his daughter, Jeanette (Joseph) Benson, South Lyon, Michigan; his daughter, Marilyn (Daniel) Romenesko, Willmington, Delaware; his son, Chuck (Ann) Sample, Green Bay; his son Tom (Jan) Sample, Wrightstown; and his son Bob (Lisa) Sample, Mountain, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Chas Sample, Katie Sample and Ryan Sample; and his cousin, Mildred Hollenback, Appleton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 18, 2001, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Appleton, with Deacon Bill Burke officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 8:00 p.m. and again Friday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
