On May 10, 2018, Caroline Seward Rucker slipped away peacefully from this life and exchanged her tired body for the joy of heaven. We were privileged to be touched by her abundant love, giving spirit, fierce independence, unwavering courage, love of adventure, intelligence and humor. She was larger than life and had a powerful impact on all who knew her. Her legacy will be her generous heart, the joy she brought to so many, her sparkling smile, tenacity, determination under may difficult circumstances, and the deep love she had for her family and friends. She will be missed, but our beautiful memories will keep her alive in our hearts.
Caroline enjoyed learning; she spent thirty years in the Santa Ana and Appleton schools as a teacher and guidance counselor. She was an avid supporter of Joe Hill and the Union movement. She continued her learning as a furniture maker and a chef. Caroline loved most of all spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed weaving, gardening, basket making, scuba diving, and cooking.
Caroline is survived by her husband, Charles; son and daughter in law, Frank and Kalise Rucker and their twin sons, Kenny and Charlie, all of Portland Oregon. She is further survived by her twin brother, Steven (Patty) Seward, Rough and Ready, California; sister-in-law, Mary Manhart; brother-in-law, William Rucker, Omaha, Nebraska; aunt, Nancy Fish, Carona Del Mar, California; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Seward, San Gabriel, California.
