Carol M. Seiler

Carol Margaret Seiler (Salm), age 88 of Little Chute, WI joined her heavenly kingdom on the night of January 28, 2025. She was born on Sept 12, 1936 to Edward and Irene (Abendroth) Salm and raised in Appleton along with 4 sisters and 1 brother. She lived her whole life in Appleton and in Little Chute. She was married to Francis “Fritz” Seiler in Dec, 1975 and they just celebrated their 49th Anniversary. He preceded her in death on Jan 1st, just 27 days before her. We know he went first to pave the way and prepare for her because he would do anything for her.

Carol had 5 children: Ron, Donna, John, Greg, and Dan; as well as 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren that she loved with all her heart. Everyone loved her chocolate chip cookies and Christmas cookies (that had to be frosted on the bottom). She always loved shopping, baking, reading, traveling, going camping and fishing, and doing arts and crafts, including drawing and painting. She was a homemaker, but throughout the years, she also did babysitting and cleaning. She also had three other really fun jobs: 1) She was an artist, many years ago when a photographer would take a black and white photo, she would color the portrait before it went out to the client; 2) for a number of years, she worked at Hilltop Bakery in the fall months to make Gingerbread House kits (or honey houses as she called them) that were shipped all over the country; and 3) she worked at the phone company right out of high school, plugging the phone lines in to connect calls. Some of her favorite memories are spent with family fishing, camping, all of the holidays, and playing games, especially Phase 10, and Texas Hold ‘em.

Carol is survived by her children: Ron (Pat) Diermeier, Donna (Thomas Tidlund) Johnson, John (Julie) Diermeier, Greg (Linda) Seiler, and Dan (Megan) Seiler; her sister, Donna Lappley; her sisters-in-law. Janice Salm, Cleo Schroeder, and Dianne Petrina; her brother-in-law, Gene (Nayda) Seiler; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Francis; her parents, Edward and Irene; her sisters, Barb (Roland) Buss, Helen (Tony) Schroeder, Joyce (Tom) Pratt; her brother, Eddie Salm; her brothers-in-law, John Lappley, Dick (Juliane) Seiler; and her daughter-in-law, Denece Diermeier.

Her beautiful smile and her presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A funeral visitation will be held for Carol on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 9-11 AM at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St, Appleton, WI 54911 with a funeral service to follow at 11 AM. Carol will be laid to rest with Francis later that day at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, WI.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the owners and all of the staff at Copperstone Assisted Living and Moments Hospice. You not only treated Mom (Carol) as a resident, but you cared for her as one of your own. Everyone went above and beyond for her and our family, and we are so very thankful for angels like you.
