Carol Mae (Grosskopf) Getlinger, 92, went to her eternal home in Heaven on July 26, 2023. She was born on January 19, 1931 to Paul and Esther (Flemming) Grosskopf. She became a child of God through baptism on October 22, 1931 and was confirmed on April 2, 1944. She graduated from Antigo High School on May 27, 1948. She worked at Aid Association For Lutherans for several years until she met the neighbor boy, LaVerne Getlinger. They fell in love and eloped on October 20, 1951. They worked on the family dairy farm in Hortonville then moved to Stratford and became cheese makers for a few years. They returned to Hortonville to purchase and run the family farm where she lived for 69 years. They were blessed to have enjoyed nearly 59 years of marriage together and had six children, 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Carol was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville and shared her love of her Savior freely. She loved flowers and had a passion for gardening, canning, and baking. She had a deep love for all people and an amazing ability to engage them in meaningful conversation.
Surviving Carol are her daughter-in-law Martha Getlinger, daughter Kathryn (Allan) Hill, son Gerald (Sally) Getlinger, daughter Jenny (James) Kuske, and daughter Sarah (Jeff) Kamin. Grandchildren: Christopher Getlinger, Dixie (special friend Israel) Hill, Eric (special friend Laure) Hill, Tracy (Ken) Karpinske, Jason (fiancée Marcie) Getlinger, Elizabeth Getlinger, Keri (Mike) Christensen, Thomas (Angela) Getlinger, Robyn (Eric) Martin, Kimberly (Ben) Zirbel, Maria (Victor) Duffrin, Aaron (Lauren) Kamin, Ryan (Macailah) Kamin. Great Grandchildren: Alana (fiancé Tyler) Hill, Rylan Hill, Danielle and Angelina Karpinske, Emily Shimik, Peyton and Kolton Getlinger, Hailee Pankratz, Tyler and Watson Kamke, Westyn Christensen, Jordan, Trystan, and Brennan Getlinger, Faith, Sadie, and Christian Martin, Ava Zirbel, Evelyn Duffrin, Coraline and Delilah Kamin, and Theodore Kamin. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents, husband LaVerne, sisters: Janet Grosskopf and Shirley (Arlin) Elandt, sons: Stanley and Daniel Getlinger and great grandson Liam Kamin.
We would like to thank the staff at the Washington Center, St. Joe’s Residence, and ThedaCare Medical Center in New London for their excellent and compassionate care.
We loved you Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma. You will be greatly missed.
The Christian funeral service for Carol will be held at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church, 752 East Grandview Road, Hortonville, WI 54944 on August 5th at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
