Carl Rahn, formerly of Appleton, died at a Waukesha Hospital on Tuesday morning, May 29, 2007. Carl was born in Appleton on September 1, 1925, son of the late Robert and Lulu Rahn. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as an electrician’s mate in Panama and the Admiralty Islands. Following his discharge from the Navy, Carl married the former Ruth Steudel of Appleton; Ruth preceded him in death in 1978. The bulk of Carl’s working years were spent with Wisconsin – Michigan Power Company (now WE Energies) working as a load dispatcher. He retired in 1984. Carl was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching football and playing golf.
Survivors include three sons: Ron (Sheila) Rahn of Waukesha; Paul (Joan) Rahn of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and Jim (Becky) Rahn of Waukesha; three granddaughters: Melissa, Emily, and Lauren; two brothers: Robert (Wilma) Rahn of Little Chute and Al Rahn of Yuma, Arizona; two sisters-in-law: Marlene Rahn of Appleton and Hazel Steudel of Appleton. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth in 1978, infant brothers Earl and Merle, a brother Norbert, sisters-in-law Shirley Rahn and Dorothy O’Connor, and brothers-in-law John Steudel and Bob (Mary) Steudel.
The Christian Funeral for Carl will be held on Friday, June 1, 2007 at 1:30 PM at the Wichmann Funeral Home in Appleton with Rev. Greg Otterstatter of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Neenah officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the hour of the service.
