Carl Kurowski, age 86 years, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at ManorCare. He was born May 4, 1920 in Green Bay the son of the late Leo and Jenny (Besaw) Kurowski. Carl married Hazel Blair on September 24, 1938 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Carl was a member of Harvey Pierre Post #2778 VFW and Johnson Blessman Post #38 American Legion in Appleton. He enjoyed playing the guitar, wood carving and country music. Carl will be remembered as a “jack of all trades”.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Hazel Kurowski of Appleton; sons: Fred (Christina) and Eugene (Debra) Kurowski both of Appleton; daughter: Wanda (Dave) Wyland of Appleton; six grandchildren: Greg and Jeff Kurowski, Wendy (Scott) Weinert, Gary and Keith Wyland and Shannon (Jason) Gaffney; five great grandchildren: Heather (Chad) Funk, Emily and Hannah Weinert, Alexis and Brady Gaffney; great great granddaughter: Kirsten Funk; sister: Marjorie Duchateau of Green Bay; half-sisters: Eunice Larsen of Denmark, Verona (David) George of Berlin and Arlene Snyder of Oshkosh; half-brothers: Ed (Karen) Kurowski of Coeur D Alene, Idaho, Larry (Sylvia) Kurowski of Platteville and David Kurowski of DePere. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and sister Josephine Pokorny.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 8, 2006 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Samuel Garbi officiating followed by full military honors. Friends may call on Friday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
