Age 96, passed away on Wednesday morning, January 14, 2009 after a courageous battle with Lung Cancer at Vallhaven Care Center in Neenah. He was born on March 18, 1912 in Milwaukee, son of the late Frank H. and Jennie L. (Erghot) Schmidt.

He will be sadly missed by his sons: Richard (Sharon) Schmidt, Menasha, Donald (Charlotte) Schmidt, Iola, Ronald (Jean) Schmidt, Sheboygan; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brother: James (Jo) Schmidt, Longmont, CO; sister-in-law: Lois Schmidt, Holmen, WI; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Janet Wagner; brothers: Marvin, Kenneth, and Edward Schmidt.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Wichmann Funeral Home Tri County Chapel (3212 South Oneida Street) with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doc's name can be sent to Theda Care At Home Hospice P.O. Box 469, Neenah, Wisconsin 54957-0469. The family would like to thank the staff of Theda Care at Home Hospice and Doc's niece, Kay Forton for all of their loving care.
