Age 51, died Sunday morning, April 7, 2002, following a two year battle with cancer. He was born July 17, 1950, to Roy and Eleanor (Lutz) Krause, in Appleton, where he was a resident all of his life. Bruce served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He had been employed by Fox River Paper for 18 years. Bruce enjoyed his birds, gardening, his Halloween Tent and his Pink Flamingos. He was a member of the Royal Order of Moose. Survivors include his wife, Toby M. (Schlieve) Krause, to whom he had married for 18 years; a son, Anthony Hummer and his special friend, Miranda Ellis, Appleton; a grandson, Mason Hummer; a niece, Lana Schlieve, Appleton; his mother, Eleanor Krause, Appleton; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bill and Janice Krause, South Carolina; Jody Krause, Green Lake, WI; a sister Georgia Lee Nolde, Appleton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Mary Jo Cyrus, Crandon; Dennis Schlieve, Georgia; Robert, Jr. and Julie Schlieve, Greenville; JoAnn and Bob Seifert, Appleton; Karen and Squeek Fulcer, Appleton; David Schlieve and his special friend, Barb Johnson, Oshkosh; Charlie and Sara Schlieve, Antigo; Jennifer Schlieve and her special friend Carlos Nicoli, Chicago; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Krause. Funeral services for Bruce will be held at the funeral home, at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, April 10, 2002. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 pm, Wednesday, until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Hospital.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. James Cleary and his assistant, Renee Quale, R. N. and the staff of the Oncology Department of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
