Brian P. Moore, MD

Husband, Father, Grandfather, Pathologist, Fisherman, Champion

Brian P. Moore passed peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. A longtime resident of Appleton, he and his wife Linda raised their family on Front Street, near Pierce Park, for over 40 years.

As a navy brat, having 20+ addresses before college, he and Linda wanted a permanent address to call home. UW-Madison football brought him to Wisconsin. His Badgers team played in the 1960 Rose Bowl.

He continued his education at UW for medical school and then trained as a pathologist at the University of Michigan. He worked for many of the Appleton area hospitals for 30 years, retiring in 2005 to care for Linda until she passed in 2006. Together they had four children.

He was an avid reader, a civil war history buff, and a supporter of the new Appleton Public Library. He was a mediocre fisherman and occasionally an experimental cook – looking for the best carnitas recipe to be had.

He enjoyed his family immensely and spent summertime at the family’s northwoods cabin in Watersmeet, MI. There were annual summer trips to the beach with all the kids and grandkids in Wrightsville Beach, NC – a tradition he had with his parents, his siblings and all their offspring in Virginia Beach when the kids were young.

He was beyond generous. Quick-witted and completely unfashionable. He wore the same outfit to work every day of his life. He sported a pageboy hat and glowed at the compliments he’d receive. “On the cutting edge of men’s fashion,” he’d tout.

He dropped f-bombs and called loved ones “chumps.” He had a nickname for everyone. Loved Zydeco music. Quoted “The Big Lebowski” and “Pulp Fiction.” He ate more jellybeans than he hid. He savored a gin + tonic and was a long-winded story teller. He signed his text messages “BPM.” He always had peanuts, Triscuits, and Double Stuf Oreos. He cooked the best bacon. He cherished his grandkids and loved to let them try to touch his mustache and then tickle them until they cried.

He called himself “A true champion.” He was, indeed, one-of-a-kind.

May he rest in peace.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Linda Sue Kuplic Moore. He is survived by his children (Chris, Jeni, Caleb and Adrianna), their spouses, nine grandchildren, all of his siblings and Linda’s siblings, and many, many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date this spring.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Appleton Public Library or St. Paul’s Elder Services of Kaukauna. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Paul’s for giving Dad such good care in these last few months. He made lots of new friends and was always so happy to have us visit. It was a comfort to us to know he was in good hands. Thank you.
