Brian Oppeneer

Brian K. Oppeneer, a well known and respected attorney, passed away on July 29, 2023, at the age of 53. Brian was born in Appleton on July 27, 1970, son of Keith and Shirley Oppeneer. He was a graduate of Appleton East High School where he was Class President and still holds records in pole vaulting. He enrolled at Tulane University on a Track and Field Scholarship.

He enjoyed time spent at the lake house on the Chain O’ Lakes. Not only did this give him time to become an excellent water skier. This training would serve him well since he translated it into snow skiing where he became quite prolific. Brian finished his undergraduate studies at St. Olaf College in Minnesota. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor degree from Marquette University Law School.

He spent his time practicing law, most recently in Charlotte, North Carolina. During his time in North Carolina, he was also a volunteer fire fighter for Teega Kay. He later moved to Boca Raton, FL. Brian’s specialty was Labor and Employment Law. Brian was employed by the National Labor Relations Board as a field attorney but spent the majority of his career working for Fortune 500 companies providing daily guidance to executives, human resources, and operations management. His bar admissions included Wisconsin, Texas, and North Carolina.

Brian is survived by his parents: Keith and Shirley Oppeneer; his son, Scott; former wife: Lauren; brother: Greg (JoAnn) Oppeneer; and an aunt Jean Jacosbson.

Funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, September 15, 2023, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton. Visitation will be on Friday at the church from 10 am until the time of the Mass.
