Brenda S. Brandt, age 54, of Appleton, passed away after a brief illness with influenza on Thursday, February 6, 2014. She was born on March 20, 1959 to the late Glenn and Betsy (Hartmann) Brandt. Brenda grew up in Appleton and graduated from Appleton East High School. She went on to attend Fox Valley Technical College which led to her career as a city accountant in Omro.
Brenda was a special person. She was unique, caring and always a trendsetter. Her love for dogs started with a training regimen for a leader dog named Sonny. After Sonny moved on to the next stage of her training, Brenda adopted Charlie, her black lab. One of her favorite things to do was take Charlie on walks throughout the neighborhood. These walks led her and Charlie to become caretakers of the neighborhood. The two developed close friendships with the neighbors and their dogs. Brenda always had an appreciation for the arts. She enjoyed art shows, the local farmer's market and also working on her own wood projects. Brenda had a love for nature; she enjoyed watching and photographing eagles and even took a trip to Churchill, Canada to see polar bears. She took a trip with her Qi Gong group to China.
Brenda is survived by her loving dog, Charlie; close siblings: Keith (Debbie) Brandt and Sally (Todd) Drews; special niece and nephew: Stephanie Brandt and Alex Drews; best friend: Georg; other siblings: Doug (Wendy), Carol, Mindy (Tom), Jackie (Brian); along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A celebration of Brenda's life will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, February 12 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI COUNTY CHAPEL (1592 Oneida St., Menasha). Visitation will take place from 4:00 PM until the time of service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name.
Brenda's family would like to extend a thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at the Appleton Medical Center ICU for the care they gave to Brenda.
