Brenda Gledhill

Brenda Gledhill, age 85, passed away Tuesday March 27, 2018 at Valley VNA. Brenda was born in Dodworth, England on October 5, 1932. Brenda started working at Browns Steel Foundry in the office and met her husband Gordon Gledhill while employed there. Getting married at the young age of 19, she and Gordon immigrated to Canada, and then in early 1961 moved to the United States. She was proud of her British heritage and shared it with others by displaying the Union Jack and symbols of royalty on clothing, signs and flags. When asked, she was always eager to talk about her homeland.

Brenda loved to garden, travel and enjoyed tea and cookies and scones. Brenda will be remembered for her loving and open heart. One person wrote:

“Brenda was open and accepting of everyone no matter their background or current situation.” Another stated how “Brenda’s generosity and inspiration enabled me to do things I never would have thought possible.” “We remember your mom visiting with nothing but fondness and concern.” All very good words we should live by.

Brenda is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jill and John and by her son and daughter-in-law Scott and Melly. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren Jane, Jack, Amanda, Melanie and Kyle and great granddaughter, Nina.
