Age 43, passed away, surrounded by his family and a special friend, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton on January13, 2008. He was born in the Marinette/Menominee area on January 27, 1964 the son of Robert J. and Karen (Thyne) Wanek. Bobby graduated from the Robert Plamann School in 1985. He worked for Valley Packaging for several years and resided at Kensington Group Home and Randy Lane before coming back home to be with his parents. Bobby enjoyed going to the cabin in Wabeno, going on vacation at North Twin Lodge with his extended family, and going to Disney World. He spent many hours playing with his keys on his tractor, in his bib overalls. His favorite past time was tearing magazines, supplied by many friends and family, and putting stickers on the pages.
Bobby is survived by his parents, Bob and Karen; sisters: Tracey (Jim) Kaufman, Lisa (Terry) Johnson and Jenny (Chris) Glasheen, all of Kaukauna; brother, Paul (Marsha) Wanek of Combined Locks; grandmother, Edna Wanek of Menominee, MI; 11 nieces and nephews, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and a special “Bobby Sitter,” Missy. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Burl and Virginia Thyne and Joseph “Pep” Wanek, all of Marinette, WI; and an infant nephew, Dominique.
The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer St, Kaukauna. Friends will be received at the Fargo Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kaukauna.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Bobby's name is being established.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, and Fr. Bill Hoffman for their compassionate care. Further, a special thank you to Nancy Croakes of O.C.H.H.S for being a long time advocate for Bobby's needs.
