Age 87, passed away at Colony Oaks Care Center in Appleton on Thursday, May 22, 2008. He was born in New Sharon on November 4, 1920 the son of the late Alfred and Anna Palmer. Bill was proud to serve in the United States Navy for 20 years. After retiring from the Navy, Bill worked for the United States Post Office for 15 years, retiring in 1981. On October 15, 1986, Bill married his wife of 21 years, Fannie Faux, in Adel, IA. Bill loved sports, including Baltimore Orioles and Oakland Raiders. He also liked to read and go for walks. Bill will be remembered for being a jokester.
Bill is survived by his wife, Fannie; Bill's children: Jaye (John) Shawnese, Mark (Wanda) Palmer and Bruce (Terri) Palmer; Fannie's children: Kelly (Brad) Bartolac, Mike Benge and Mark (Sarah) Benge; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Shirley Corkrean.
Burial of Bill's cremated remains will be conducted in Iowa at a later time in Earlham Cemetery.
The family extends a special thank you to the caring staff at Colony Oaks Care Center.
