Appleton – Our beautiful mother Beverly Burke, 92, passed away gracefully on July 3, 2023 in Appleton where she was born and raised. Beverly fell in love and married her high school sweetheart, James Burke who preceded her in death, together they raised 3 children. She was lucky enough to find love again with Gerald Pilhofer, who also preceded her in death.
Beverly was a woman of faith, who enjoyed staying busy, often volunteering her time to others. Never one to miss a sale, she loved having that “perfect outfit” to wear to her many social activities and functions. Beverly also enjoyed dancing where ever and whenever she could, a Friday night fish fry and watching the Packers on Sundays. She made lifelong memories with family and friends at her cottage on Lake Hilbert in northern Wisconsin. Above all else she cherished being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she was loved by all who knew her.
Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, James Burke; partner, Gerald Pilhofer; parents, Chester and Nina Brehmer; an infant sister, Monica Jean Brehmer; sister, Nancy Vonderosten; and a great-grandaughter, Aaliyah Rose Mortensen.
She is survived by her children, Patrick (Cheryl) Burke, Michael Burke, and Julie (Mark) Mortensen; grandchildren, Kelly (Toby), Kristina, Dylan (Louisa), Delanie (Matt), Ross (Katrina), and Bridie (Ken); great-grandchildren, Journey, Bryce, Jayvian, Chayse, Jayla, Ira, and Abel; a brother, Willaim (JoAnn) Berholtz; a sister from another mother, Barbara Golbach; best friend, Mooie Rozelle; many other family and friends; and Jer’s family who she loved as her own, Gina (Tom) Shellhammer, Leslie (Peter) O’Leary; and she was Grandma Bev to Lily, Maddie, and Owen.
A service for Beverly will be held on September 29, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E Glendale Ave, Appleton. A visitation will be held prior from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Fox Valley Lutheran Homes where Bev enjoyed a delightful last 2 years.
