Appleton
Age 72, went to be with her Lord on June 15, 2002. She was born in Kimberly on March 6, 1930, the daughter of the late Edward and Verna (Plamann) Schroeder. On September 30, 1950, she married Emery Eggenberger at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. Betty devoted much time to the church as she was a lifelong member and attended grade school there. She served as a volunteer for St. Paul’s Ladies Aid as well as volunteering her time at Franciscan Care Center and Appleton Medical Center. Betty had many interests including bowling, outings with her sisters, playing sheepshead with family and friends, and making crafts. She was known for making complete Barbie Doll wardrobes. The Chicago Cubs was Betty’s team of choice for over 50 years. Of the many things Betty enjoyed, she especially liked to spend time with her three grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her husband of many years, Emery, three daughters: Sandra (Fredric) Baumgartner of Appleton, Gail (Terry) Ruuti of Black Creek, and Lori (Salvador) Arriaga of Green Bay; three grandchildren: Elizabeth, Salvador Jr., and Anthony Arriaga; two sisters: Ellen (Richard) Radley of Greenville and Phyllis Schultz of Appleton; brother, Donald (Judy) Schroeder of Appleton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Iris Schroeder; two brothers, Lawrence and Kenneth Schroeder; and a brother-in-law, Albert Schultz.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at ST. PAUL EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 North Morrison Street, Appleton, with Pastor Ralph Waack officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday, June 17, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Primary Care Associates, the medical staff at Franciscan Care Center and Appleton Medical Center for their care of Betty. Further, a special thank you is extended to the pastoral staff at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.
A memorial fund in Betty’s name is being established.
