Age 72, died at her home on February 26, 2003. She was born on March 16, 1930, in Appleton, daughter of the late Alvin and Minnie (Schwalbach) Schroeder. On September 15, 1953, she married Jerome “Jim” Gresl. Betty worked for six years at Zwicker Knitting Mills but spent most of her working years bookkeeping for Jim’s construction company. She enjoyed traveling and spending time at the cottage at Shawano Lake. Betty was very good at creating ceramics and shared her crafts by giving them as gifts to many.
Betty is survived by her husband Jim, a brother: Glenn (Dottie) Schroeder of Freedom; three sisters: Rita (Lawrence) Petersen of Appleton, Phyllis Schroeder of Appleton, and Irene (Robert) Van Hoof of Freedom; a step daughter, Darlene (Larry) Hansen of Greenville; two step grandchildren: Jeremy (Rachel) Hansen of New London and Travis (Fiancee Brenda Fleck) Hansen and their son Drake of Greenville; brother-in-law, Donald Gresl of Black) Creek; sister-in-law, Margaret Gresl Appleton. Betty is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Elaine Gresl; brother, Robert Schroeder; father and mother –in-law, George and Asella Gresl; and a brother-in-law Paul Gresl.
The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Satuday, March 1, 2003, at ST. EDWARDS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Hwy 47, Mackville, with Fr. Charles Brooks officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., and at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the liturgy. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Memorials will be donated to the Arthritis Foundation.
