Appleton – Betty J. (Bartz) Blank, age 93, of Appleton, formerly of Fond du Lac, died suddenly November 15, 2018. Betty was born December 6, 1924 in Appleton to the late Henry and Adeline Bartz. She married Knight E. Blank Sr. who has proceeded her in death.
Betty was a leader of many. Her love of volunteering and helping others was contagious. Living in Fond du Lac for over forty years, she served as president or on the board of directors for multiple groups like: AARP, Chapter 614, the Aging and Disability Resource Center Board, the Red Cross, Wisconsin Hospital Association Auxiliaries and Wisconsin Hospital Association and volunteered at the Commission on Aging, Friends of the Senior Center, Long Term Care Council and Senior Citizens Advisory Council. She volunteered at the Agnesian Healthcare donating over 10,000 hours. She was important in the original startup of the Love Light fund-raiser, the Act II Resale Shop and scholarship program for high school seniors.
Betty is survived by her children: Lynn (Fritz) Fett of Iola, Knight (Julia) Blank Jr. of Kansas City MO, Scott (Susan) Blank of Hudson, and Gary Blank of Appleton. She is also survived by her grandchildren Susan (Jon) Kanner (Fett), Nicholas Blank, Dr. Jacqueline Blank, Jennifer Blank, Austin Blank, one great-granddaughter, Amalthea “Molly” Kanner, Sister Althea Zurilla, sister-in-laws Patricia Krueger and Joanne Bartz. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband of many years, Betty was preceded in death by grandchild Catherine Fett, sisters: Dorthy Averbeck and June Williamson and brother Jim Bartz Sr.
Visitation will be held on Friday November 30, 2018 at Appleton Highland Memorial Park (3131 N Richmond St. Appleton) beginning at 9:00AM, with a joint entombment service at 11:00AM with her husband, the love of her life.
