Bette Holcomb-Smith, age 83, died on Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at Manor Care in Appleton. Bette was born on May 1, 1924, in Appleton to the late Peter E. and Florence E. Jones. She was married to Robert J. Holcomb and Clayton F. Smith, both of which preceded her in death. Bette was further preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Oudenhoven, and her brothers, Arthur “Bud” Jones, Robert Jones and Donald Jones. Survivors include her son, James (Linda) Holcomb, Bendrock, Texas; her step-daughters, Pam (Gary) Bauman and Debbie (Mike) Sheleski; and her step-sons, Craig (Kathy) Smith, Mark (Diane) Smith and Brian (Roz) Smith. Bette is further survived by her sister-in-law, Cele Jones; her niece, Joan Lea, her nephews Richard Nudelbacker and Tom Nudelbacker; and her 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She proudly served her country during WWII in the United States Navy. It was Bette’s wish that no funeral services be held.
