Loving wife, mother, grandmother, age 73, died on Sunday, July 7, 2002 at Appleton Medical Center. Bette was born on March 24, 1929 in Appleton, daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Nichols) Aures. Bette graduated from Appleton High School in 1947, and married Kenneth L. Murray on October 8, 1947, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton, enjoying 52 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death in 2000. She was an active member of Trinity; leading Bible Studies, making quilts for Lutheran World Relief, serving dinners for funerals, teaching Sunday school, and worshipping often. She was a devoted wife and mother; homemaking was her primary life work; but she was also employed at First National bank, Sears and the Aid Association for Lutherans. Bette loved sewing pillowcase dolls and Barbie clothes, and donated many of these items to local charities. She enjoyed fishing and swimming at their cottage at Crystal Lake. Bette is survived by her daughter, Mary (Greg) Tennermann and granddaughter Megan, New Windsor, New York; her brother, Robert (Lorraine) Aures, Neenah; and her sister, Mary (Bob) Novak, Mukwonago. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, especially friend and neighbor, Lisa (Dan) Getsfried. Bette was preceded in death by her son Gordon. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2002, at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 209 South Allen Street, Appleton, with Rev. Gregory Tennerman officiating. The private interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 10 from 4 until 7 p.m., and again at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to benefit the American Cancer Society.
