Age 96, died peacefully in her sleep at her home, Thursday morning, June 7, 2001. She was born July 3, 1904, to the late William and Ella (Wolfgram) Dietrich, in Appleton. She married August O. Peters on November 7, 1923 in the Town of Lessor, Shawano County, where they farmed until moving to Appleton. Bernice worked hard to keep her home clean and to feed her family. She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Lawrence Behrent, Appleton; three grandchildren, Debra (Paul) Jacobs, Menasha; James E. (Wanda) Behrent, Kaukauna; John (Robin) Behrent, Appleton; seven great grandchildren, Jessica and Sarah Jacobs, Samantha, Hollie and Alexander Behrent, Ashley and Amanda Behrent. She was preceded in death by her husband August O. Peters, two grandsons, David S. Behrent and Mark S. Behrent, two brothers, Alvin Dietrich and Sylvester Dietrich, and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Funeral services for Bernice will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 9, 2001, at the funeral home, with Reverend Lynn K. Kollath officiating. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 pm, Friday and on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established for Emmanuel United Methodist Church.
