Bernice Marvel Stachovak
Age 84,
Of Appleton, went to be with her God on June 10, 2003. Bernice was born on November 09, 1918, in Wausau, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late August Shivek and Ida Ladwig Shivek. Bernice loved her home. She flourished in Wausau for most of her life and created an intricate blend of family, church, and community. She relied on her strong and gracious faith for guidance especially when she chose to begin a career in real estate late in life. A million dollar producer– our mom could do anything.
Upon the death of her husband, Benedict Stachovak, she bravely decided to make her home in Appleton, to be close to her daughters: Judi (Bill) Gault and Kay (Mark) Knuth, all of Appleton. Our mother taught us to love adventure, opportunity, history, and showed us how, with her passion for learning. This gift was given to her beloved grandchildren who also survive: Jill Gault, Martha’s Vineyard, MA, Bradley Gault, Appleton, Parker and Kolby Knuth at home. She is further survived by her dear sister, Elaine (Wilbur) Hahn, and many other relatives and wonderful friends, old and new, whom she cherished .
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashley Marie Knuth, a brother, Arthur and sisters: Beatrice (Louis) De La Pasqua and Genevieve (Elmer) Bartelt.
The family is most grateful to Sharon Scott and Ann Carroll, the community of First United Methodist, as well as her P.E.O. sisters for their support, encouragement, and for being kind to our mother.
Our Mother, our grandmother, our sister, our friend, taught us giving and kindness as she gave to all from the kindest heart. She taught us love, and was loved so well.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 13, 2003 at 1:30 PM at First United Methodist Church in Appleton with Pastor Kent Ingram officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 12, 2003 from 4 PM until 7PM at the funeral home, and also one hour prior to the service at church on Friday. A graveside service will be held for family and friends on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 10:00 AM in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau, WI. A memorial fund is being established.
