Age 82, passed away Monday, February 26, 2007, at her home with her husband and children at her side.
She was born June 24, 1924, in Appleton, and was married to Joe Van Roy for 28 years. He preceded her in death in 1976. Bernice then married John Welhouse in 1977.

Survivors include her husband, John; her children, Richard Van Roy, Mary (Leon) Doering, Debbie (John) Probst, Joe Van Roy, and Ginger (Jack) Hoppe; her grandchildren, Kelley Van Roy, Brian Van Roy, Eric Van Roy, Jody (Christy) Doering, Josh Doering, Melissa Probst, Jonathan Probst, Adam Probst, Randy Van Roy, Jessica Hoppe, and Nicki Hoppe; there are four great grandchildren, Madelyn, Carter, Chauna, and Holly; her sister, Estella Jansen; and Linda Doering, her godchild.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 East Lourdes Drive, Appleton, with Father Don Zuleger as celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at the church.
