VANDENELZEN, BERNICE G.

Bernice G. VandenElzen, age 85 years, died Saturday, February 4, 2006 at her home in Kimberly. She was born July 1, 1920 in Little Falls, Minnesota to the late Vincent and Mary (Stoltman) Pilarski. After her birth, the family then moved to Stockbridge and into Menasha. Bernice married Clarence VandenElzen on October 19, 1940 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sherwood and they were blessed with 59 years together. Clarence and Bernice lived in Menasha until the 1950’s and then made their home in Kimberly.

She worked for Kimberly Clark, Neenah and Johnny’s Restaurant in her earlier years. Bernice was a former member of William Verhagen Post 60 of the American Legion Auxillary and a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Bernice is survived by her sons: Dennis (Norma) VanElzen of Menasha and Michael VandenElzen of Kimberly; grandchildren: AM1 Patrick J. (Donna) VanElzen of Virginia Beach, VA and Nancy (Peter) Offenstein of Appleton; great grandchildren: Chelsea Riley and Patrick J. VanElzen, Jr., Nicholas, Sarah and Jennie Offenstein; sisters: Julia Pilarski, Marion Stinski, Louise (Art) Ponto, Rosemary (Ray) Zelinski all of Menasha and Janice Schultz of Wautoma; brother: Michael Pilarski of Florida and sisters-in-law, Agnes Knabenbauer of Kimberly and Sr. Mary Rosaline VanElzen of Wheaton, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence and an infant son, Peter Joseph; sisters: Marceline Stepanski, Cecelia Schmidt, Angeline Pilarski, Francis Boisvert and Augusta Birnbaum; brothers: Jackie, Martin and Louis Pilarski. Bernice was also preceded in death by five brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.

The funeral liturgy for Bernice will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH, 600 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Spirit Parish appreciated.
