Age 85, passed away on April 20, 2002, at Franciscan Care Center. He was born June 19, 1916 in Kimberly to Henry and Frances (Ver Voort) Vanden Boogaard. He Married Audrey Beschta on April 29, 1946. Bern and Audrey enjoyed 55 years together. Bern was employed at Kimberly Clark, Kimberly Mill as a carpenter for 42 years until his retirement in 1979. Bern served in the United States Army in World War II, Army Corps of Engineers. He also served on the Kimberly Village Board as a trustee for 32 years. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Kimberly American Legion Post # 60.

Survivors include his wife Audrey; two daughters and sons-in-law: Pat (Tom) Asman of Kimberly and Mary (Len) Milton of Darboy; four sons: Jim (Sheree) Vanden Boogaard of Oshkosh, Garry (Jackie) Vanden Boogaard of Menasha, Kim (Cheryl) Vanden Boogaard of Greenville, Bob Vanden Boogaard of Kimberly; nine grandchildren: Jeff Asman, Randy and Anne Asman, Jenny and Jason Chevalier, Laurie and Pete Ritger, Marria and Gary Marg, Jessie and Daniel Pickney, Sarah Vanden Boogaard, and Ben and Cory Vanden Boogaard; four great-grandchildren: Marley (with whom he shared his birthdate), Will and Luke Chevalier, and Daniel Pickney; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Matt (Marion) Vanden Boogaard of Kimberly, Paul (Evelyn) Vanden Boogaard of Appleton, and Elmer (Opal) Vanden Boogaard of Appleton; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Mary (Edward) Prellwitz of Savannah, Georgia and Maxine Wichman of Kimberly; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Vanden Boogaard of Little Chute and Esther Vanden Boogaard of Appleton. Bern is further survived by three sisters-in-law: Joan Gruentzel of Appleton, Marcie Beschta of Appleton, and Bette Beschta of Appleton; three brothers-in-law: Jerry Beschta of Hortonville, Vin Beschta of Greendale, and Gene (Carol) Beschta of Appleton.

Bern is preceded in death by two brothers: Vin and Robert; sister, Esther Schwab; brothers-in-law: Otto Wichman, Norbert Schwab, Stanley Beschta, Carlton Beschta, Donald Beschta, Gene Gruentzel, and Dick Brouillard; and sisters-in-law: Pat Brouillard and Mary Beschta.

The funeral liturgy will be at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Holy Name Cemetery.
