Age 83, died Sunday evening, August 26, 2001. He was born June 29, 1918, to the late Benjamin and Mary (Burdett) Scroggins, in Thomaston, Georgia. Ben served with the U. S. Navy during WW II, where he was involved in three invasions, and subsequently worked for the U. S. Coast Guard as a civilian employee for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and photography. He is survived by two sons, Nicholas Scroggins, Britton, Michigan; Benjamin Scroggins, Jr, Peterborough, New Hampshire; five grandchildren; a sister, Jeanette English, Jacksonville, Florida; three step-children, Marilyn (Marvin) Lindbloom, Sturgeon Bay; Thomas (Connie) Sleeman, Fort Myers, FL; Ruth (Louis) Rossetti, Neenah; eight step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, his second wife, Isabelle (Forsten) Scroggins and a son Joseph Scroggins. Funeral services for Benjamin will be held at the funeral home at 6:00 pm Friday, August 31, 2001, with Reverend Dennis Episcopo officiating. Graveside services will be held at Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River, Michigan, at 1:00 pm Saturday, September 1, 2001. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 pm Friday until the time of the service.
