Benedict S. "Ben" Dercks

DERCKS, BENEDICT S. “BEN”

Benedict S. Dercks passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday morning, July 24, 2007 at the age of 85 years. He was born in Little Chute on January 19, 1922, son of the late John and Hattie (Weyenberg) Dercks. Ben served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. On September 22, 1945 he married Mildred Vanden Boogard. She preceded him in death on November 5, 1948. On June 27, 1950 he married Claire Kiffe and she preceded him in death on June 17, 2006. Ben was an independent milk hauler for Morning Glory Dairy and retired in 1987. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 953, VFW Kaukauna Electric City Post 3319 and a lifelong member of Holy Cross Parish.

He is survived by seven sons: Stanley (Helen) Dercks, Gerald Dercks, Dave (Karen) Dercks, Thomas (Marie) Dercks and Robert (Dawn) Dercks, all of Kaukauna; Ronald (Cindy) Dercks of Appleton and John (Janet) Dercks of Kaukauna; twenty-three grandchildren: Mary (John) Bachhuber, Paul (Kelli) Dercks, Cathy (Mitch) Spoehr, Michael Dercks and Cheryl (Doug) Mader; Jennifer (Jamie) Thern and Terri Jo Dercks; Ben, Jeff and Tracy Dercks; Melissa, Kristin and Travis Dercks; Danielle, Brian and Nick Dercks; Corey, Katie, Kristi, Chad and Kelly Dercks; Jeremy and Jenna Dercks; twelve great-grandchildren: Owen and Daniel Bachhuber; Bennett, Emerson and Davis Dercks; Trevor and Nathan Spoehr; Sophie Mader; Cassie and Carter Thern; Chloe and Collin Dercks; three sisters-in-law: Martha Dercks and Pat Koch both of Kaukauna and Margaret Kiffe of Florida. Ben is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandson: Jaime Dercks; great-granddaughter: Rose Schroedl Dercks; half-brother: Rich (Laura) Diedrick; two brothers: Joseph (Yvonne) Dercks and George Dercks; brother-in-law: Sylvester (Ann) Vanden Boogard and a sister-in-law: Loretta (Maurice) Van Nuland.

The funeral liturgy for Ben will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 27, 2007 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna with Fr. David Funk, OFM, Cap officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at which time the cortege will leave for the church. There will be a rosary prayer service at 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Bruce Danz and ThedaCare at Home Hospice for their excellent care and compassion. Also, a special thanks to Jerry for fulfilling our dad’s wish to stay in his home and enjoy time with family and friends.
