Age 83, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2003 at the Appleton Medical Center. Bea was born in Niagara, Wisconsin on June 20, 1920, daughter of the late Paul and Anna (Roeder) Simon. On October 4, 1938, she married Ray J. Pitsch at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton; he survives. Over the years, Bea worked as a housekeeper at Lawrence University, as a clerk at Geenen’s Department Store in Appleton, and at Stokely – Van Camp canning company. She was a longtime and faithful member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly where many will remember her volunteering to help in the church kitchen for funeral meals. Since Ray is a military veteran, Bea was involved in various service auxiliaries. They include the William Verhagen Post #60 American Legion Auxiliary, the Electric City Post #3319 VFW Auxiliary, and the DAV Auxiliary. In her earlier years, she enjoyed crochet and floral arranging.
Bea is survived by her husband of sixty-five years: Ray J. Pitsch of Kimberly; a son: Ray P. (Betty) Pitsch of Darboy; a daughter: Dot (Lynn) Moss of Darboy; three grandchildren: Shelley Pitsch of New Jersey, Eric Pitsch of Menasha, and Brenda (Gary) Anderson of Darboy; three great-grandchildren: Amber, Josh, and Jason Anderson; a brother: Paul Simon of Kimberly; a sister: Bernice Lopas of Kaukauna; four sisters-in-law: Marie (George) Verkuilen of Oneida, Agnes Johnson of Westfield, Martha DeCleene of Lena, and Rita Bodde of Montello; a brother-in-law: Gilbert Brockman of Appleton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Judy Anne, a sister Mary Brockman, brothers-in-law Lester Lopas, Joe DeCleene, Bob Bodde, and Sheridan Johnson, and a sister-in-law Ileta (Charles) Swinton.
The funeral liturgy for Beatrice will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 E. Kimberly Avenue in Kimberly with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
