Age 94, passed away on Sunday July 30, 2006 with family at her side after a long and fruitful life. Bea was born on September 11, 1911 in Green Bay daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Klaus) Wirth. She married Norbert Gaerthofner on September 19, 1936 and he preceded her in death on August 26, 1992. Bea was a past president of the Christ Child Society, was active in the Adopt a Family program and a member of the Ladies Society of St. Pius X. She is survived by her children: Joan (Jack) McBrien, Ann (Mark) Peterson, Appleton; Jim (Linda) Gaerthofner, Appleton; grandchildren: Jeff (Joni) McBrien, Tom McBrien, Mick (Kelly) McBrien, Tim LaBorde, Todd LaBorde, Joe (Jen) Gaerthofner, Laura (Dave) Richert, Andy (Amy) Gaerthofner, Emmy Gaerthofner; great grandchildren: Joy, Julia, Jake, Molly and Mitch, Jordan, Lauren, Mia, (special great grandson) Elijah and an expected great grandson in September. Bea is also survived by a brother- in- law Robert Held, sisters- in- law Angie Gaerthoefner, and Rose Marie Schwonek, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Jayne, a granddaughter Kimberly LaBorde, a sister Audrey Held and two brothers Cletus and Don Wirth
Funeral Services for Bea will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday August 2, 2006 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 1810 North McDonald Street, Appleton with Fr. Gerald Falk officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 until the time of services. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Angelus, AMC, Oakridge Gardens, Garden View Assisted Living, and Heartland Hospice. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Fr. Gerald Falk for all his kindness and consideration for their parents over the years.
