Barbara Jean “Barb” Roeland, 64, entered eternal rest on June 9, 2024, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wis., surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born on July 6, 1959, in Stevens Point, Wis. to Lawrence and Catherine Wierzba. She graduated from Menasha High School in 1977, where she played volleyball and was part of the drill team. After high school, she became a licensed beautician and styled hair for many years, and continued giving haircuts to friends and loved ones all through her life.
Barbara married her junior high school sweetheart, Michael “Mickey” Roeland, in 1984, and together they raised two sons. Barbara had a passion for caring for others, devoting her time to the Cub Scouts, Beyond Boundaries of Autism, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and others.
Barbara loved gardening, watching birds at the feeders in her backyard, operating a showcase at a local antique store, and spending time with her family, especially her two precious grandchildren. She also enjoyed the company of friends, including her best friend Mary.
Her passion extended to sports, where she cheered on all Wisconsin-based teams. She cherished her pet cats through the years: Nipsey, Rusty, Buddy, and Nugget.
Her sweet personality, beaming smile, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 39 years, Mickey Roeland; her children, Steven (Leanne) Roeland and Patrick (Alix) Roeland; her grandchildren, Ezra and Thea, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her parents, Lawrence and Catherine Wierzba.
