Age 73, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2008. Barbara was born in Oconto Falls on April 18, 1934 to the late Ed and Phyllis (Spice) Rusch. Barbara attended Menasha High School and graduated in 1952. She went on to acquire college credits at various institutions in the accounting field. Barbara worked for many years as an accountant for Thilmany Pulp and Paper. On September 21, 1979, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Thomack. They were blessed with three children. Barbara was an avid Packers fan. She loved golfing with her husband, fishing at their cottage, gardening and appreciating wildlife and nature. Barbara was also very active in the Elks Association. She was First Lady of the Wisconsin Elks from 2002 to 2003, as well as Secretary of the Kaukauna Elks Lodge for several years.
She is lovingly survived by her husband, Kenneth Thomack of Combined Locks; children: Michael Thomack of Waupaca, Tammy Thomack and special friend, Jeff Swedberg of Cecil, Misty (Jason) Zuhlke of Winneconne; uncle Bud (Jeannie) Spice; sister Jeanette Coonen, many nieces, nephews and the entire Coonen family. Barbara is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Arnie Coonen, her grandparents and her aunt.
Funeral services for Barbara will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 601 S. Washington Street, Combined Locks with Pastor Bill Schroeder officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again at the church on Wednesday, January 30, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. There will also be an Elks memorial service held at 7:00 p.m. during the visitation on Tuesday.
Barbara's family has established a memorial fund.
