Barbara Ann Weir

Barbara A. Weir, age 63, was taken from us suddenly on Monday, January 16, 2006. Barb was born September 23, 1942 in Ashland, Wisconsin, the daughter of Helen (Faliski) Matyas of New London and the late John Matyas. On August 17, 1963, Barb married Don J. Weir in Ashland, Wisconsin. The couple was blessed with forty-two wonderful years together. Barb was a loving, generous woman who always put the needs of her family before those of her own. She loved her role in life as a wife, mother, and grandmother, and lived for the times she could spoil them in any way she could. Barb is dearly loved and will be sadly missed by her husband: Don J. Weir of Appleton; her mother: Helen Matyas of New London; three children: Daniel K. Weir of Greenville and his children Marissa K. Weir and Daniel J. Weir; David J. Weir of Appleton; and Debbie M. (Dan) Corcoran of Fond du Lac and his children Nicole, Jason, Terence, and Calleen. Barb is further survived by her daughter-in-law: Wendy J. Weir of Greenville; seven brothers and a sister: Mike (Gail) Matyas of Reno, Nevada; Tom Matyas of Manawa; Ron Matyas of New London; Mary (Henry) Bronk of Clintonville; Jim Matyas of Minneapolis; Tim (Cecelia) Matyas of Seattle, Washington; Dennis (Lori) Matyas of Baraboo; and Ken Matyas of Shawano; a sister-in-law: Gloria Weir Melgaard of Dubuque, Iowa; and a brother-in-law: Robert (Lynn) Weir of Hugo, Minnesota. Barb was preceded in death by her father, John Matyas, an infant sister Susan Matyas, and a brother Richard, who was killed in Viet Nam.

In order to properly share Barb’s memory with their many relatives and friends, Don and the family will greet visitors at the funeral home on Friday, January 20, 2006 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A memorial fund is being established in Barb’s name.
